Yesterday, Sherwin and I went to the San Diego Museum of Art in Balboa Park. The Museum is having a special display this weekend called Art Alive. For Art Alive florists from all over are invited to create and display a floral piece matched to a particular piece of art work in the museum. The main entry of the Museum was decorated with thousands of white orchids, lilies, roses and Calla Lilies. Some were hanging from the domed ceiling three stories up from reception. White and purple lights shown among the arrangements. When we walked in the front door we were hit by the scent of all these sweet flowers. It was sensational. Here are a couple of pictures. There were about 50 or 60 floral pieces. Some had many flowers and some just a couple. Most just looked beautiful and the colors matched and the mood of the flowers echoed the art. About 10 pieces were just outstanding! They took my breath away. Too bad we could not take pictures of the floral pieces with their art.
